How is Submersive similar to/different from Meow Wolf?

We are creating spaces designed to heal and transform, which naturally lends itself to a more refined and selective experience design. Meow Wolf creates mind-blowing maximalist immersive art installations that are extremely high-novelty high-stimulation experiences. Though Submersive's offering will feature immersive art and will also be very novel, our aim is to create therapeutic immersive experiences and our choice of style, texture, look and feel will reflect that.

How will science be integrated into the experience?

We will integrate science in two fundamental ways. First, we will use principles from neuroaesthetics and other bodies of research to empower our science informed design, integrating known scientific principles into the experience design. Secondly–and maybe the most innovative aspect of our approach–our immersive environments will not only be unique experiences, but will actually be experiments in themselves.

We will periodically test the impact of our environments on volunteers, using state of the art wearables including mobile EKG, heart rate, HRV sensors, and other methods. Those findings will give valuable biofeedback data that we will integrate into our environments and our design process. In this way you can think of Submersive as one giant R&D lab for studying the potential therapeutic impact of immersive experiences.

What kind of art will you have at Submersive?

Submersive will showcase world class immersive installations alongside a showcase of beautifully curated flatworks and sculptures from local and international artists. One of the things that makes Submersive most unique is the blending of immersive art and bathing elements, resulting in artwork you can literally submerge yourself into.

When and where will you open your first location?

We plan to open our first brick and mortar location in Austin, Texas in 2026. We love that Austin is a hub for forward thinking individuals with a powerful focus on health and wellness. We think it’s a perfect place to launch our innovative new concept.

What was the inspiration for Submersive?

Answer from the Founder, Corvas Brinkerhoff:

"I want to create spaces that heal, enliven, inspire, and transform others. From rivers and lakes to beaches and swimming pools, I've had a lifelong obsession with being in water.  Back in the early years of Meow Wolf, I was regularly going to Ten Thousand Waves, a local bathhouse in Santa Fe, and finding a deep love for contrast therapy. I naturally began to dream of bringing these worlds together, wondering 'could immersive art be therapeutic?'"
